Visitor Restrictions are Keeping Your Loved Ones – and Our Staff – Safe

Communication During Visitor Restrictions

Horizon wants to ensure everyone in our communities understands why we have imposed strict no visitor restrictions.

Around the globe we have seen the number of cases grow at rapid speeds. These measures will help prevent the spread of Coronavirus (COVID-19), a respiratory infection. By limiting the number of people in our facilities, which includes patients (by cancelling elective and non-urgent surgeries, procedures and clinics) and visitors (through visitor restrictions), we are reducing the chance of COVID-19 infecting our patients, clients, staff and physicians.

While many people are healthy and do not have COVID-19, it is a highly-contagious infection. We are following guidelines and recommendations brought forward by New Brunswick's top health official.

As Dr. Jennifer Russell, chief medial officer of health for New Brunswick, has repeated day after day: "We're telling the whole province to self-isolate."

At Horizon we understand this is difficult, especially during a time of uncertainty, but the health of your loved ones and our staff and physicians is our top priority. These regulations are in place to protect them.

These are unprecedented times and we are working with our patients, their families and care partners to identify alternate ways to communicate in the absence of visitation. Check out some helpful tools below:

  • Horizon's Well Wishes Program: our dedicated staff are pleased to personally deliver a well-wishing email to a patient in any of our hospitals. Learn more and deliver a message today by clicking  HERE.
  • Consider calling or using video messaging where technology permits. In partnership with local hospital Foundations and Auxiliaries, we offer free wireless Internet access for patients and their families at many of our hospitals and facilities. More information is available  HERE.
  • Most patient beds are equipped with a private telephone. Upon request and by following the specific instructions a telephone service can be provided.
  • Personal items can be dropped off for your loved ones if the items have not come from a household that  is under isolation. If you are unsure if the items will be accepted by the unit, please call ahead.
