Community Drug Drop-Off Program Offered in Saint John

(Saint John) May 8, 2019 -  A Drug Drop-Off Program is being offered to Saint John area residents on Saturday, May 11 in recognition of Community Drug Drop-Off Day. The program offers a safe, simple and anonymous means of discarding unwanted and unused medications into the hands of authorized personnel.

The Drug Drop-Off will take place on Saturday, May 11 at Harbour Station's parking lot from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. There is no need to park your car. Simply drive, or walk through and drop off the items. Those participating in the program will also have their name entered for a chance to win a prize.

The free program is equipped to handle prescription medication, over-the-counter medications, liquid medications, ointments, lotions, sprays, vitamins, patches, and pet medications.

The proper disposal of medications helps decrease prescription drug abuse, prevents accidental poisoning and overdoses, and helps to reduce the environmental issues caused by improper medication disposal.

To obtain additional information about this program, please call Horizon's St. Joseph's Community Health Centre by dialing 506-632-5537.

The Drug Drop-Off Program is a partnership between Horizon's St. Joseph's Community Health Centre, the Saint John City Police, The Fundy Wellness Network and Government of New Brunswick/Department of Social Development.
