Lifeline Canada Medical Alert Service

What is the Lifeline Canada Medical Alert Service?

(Courtesy of Lifeline Canada)

Horizon's The Moncton Hospital (TMH) is a proud partner with Lifeline Canada to provide medical alert services (including alert buttons) to the communities we serve in the Moncton area. This is the only program of its kind across Horizon Health Network.

Seniors and people with physical challenges and their caregivers can benefit from the Lifeline Canada's medical alert services. They can continue to live confidently and independently in their homes with the reassurance that help is available at the push of a button.

Lifeline Canada medical alert services at TMH can be used to:

  • Call for help - You're always connected to the emergency department with a simple push of your personal help button. In the event you cannot push your button, or you are disoriented, our optional "AutoAlert" feature is designed to automatically call for help if it detects a fall.
  • Hear a reassuring voice - Emergency department staff will quickly access your personal profile and evaluate your situation.
  • Know help is on the way - If needed, emergency department staff will contact emergency services (based on your preference) and will follow up to make sure help has arrived.

How does the Lifeline Canada medical alert service work?

1. Summon Help
You're always connected to Lifeline Canada's 24/7 Response Centre with a simple push of your personal help button. In the event you cannot push your button, or you are disoriented, our optional AutoAlert feature is designed to automatically call for help if it detects a fall.1

2. Hear a reassuring voice

A caring Lifeline Canada's Response Associate will quickly access your personal profile and evaluate your situation.

3. Know help is on the way
If needed, the Lifeline Canada's Response Associate will contact a neighbour, a loved one, a caregiver or emergency services - based on your preference - and will follow up to make sure help has arrived.

All buttons connect to TMHl's Emergency Department for service. There are times where the service is completed by Lifeline Canada's service representatives. Such circumstances include system interruptions, upgrades, and overall Emergency Department capacity to answer the call.

Features include:
