Coming Soon!
Thanks to the Friends of The Moncton Hospital's Extraordinary Care Campaign and government investments, a new, more family‐centred Maternity and Newborn Unit will soon be built at Horizon's The Moncton Hospital.
The new unit will include a Labour and Birthing Unit, Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NNICU) and Maternal Fetal Medicine Clinic.
These three units will be relocated and merged into a newly constructed building between the Professional Arts Building and the hospital's main entrance on MacBeath Avenue.
This new space will feature modern and private patient rooms for all stages of birth, each with individual washroom facilities. This will improve outcomes for the mother, reduce the length of hospital stay, prevent the spread of infection and provide a safety- and quality-focused patient care environment.
The Neonatal Intensive Care Unit will also feature single private rooms, improving care by parents, patient and family, privacy, confidentiality and noise control.
The Maternal Fetal Medicine Clinic will provide a comfortable and modern space for women during high‐risk pregnancies. It will be adjacent to the other two units, providing a seamless continuity of care. Construction is expected to begin in June 2019, with occupancy in late 2021.
