The Moncton Hospital Post-Graduate Dietetic Internship Program

The Moncton Hospital Post-Graduate Dietetic Internship Program allows students to use university-acquired knowledge and apply it into a practice-based setting.  This comprehensive 47-week program is an accredited program recognized by the Partnership for Dietetic Education and Practice (PDEP) and prepares students for eligibility for registration with a provincial dietetics regulatory body. Students pursuing a career in dietetics have been mentored by this program for over 40 years.

The Moncton Hospital accepts 4 students each year with the program commencing in October. Students gain quality experience in food service management, clinical nutrition, community nutrition, research/QI and independent professional staff experience. No further university courses are required during the program; however, a commitment of personal time is essential in order to complete assignments.

Once interns graduate from the program, they are eligible to write the Canadian Dietetic Registration Exam (CDRE) required to practice as Registered Dietitian and register with provincial regulatory bodies.

The philosophy of the program is to provide supervised practical experiences that will allow students to develop and attain the Integrated Competencies for Dietetic Education and Practice (ICDEP) required to work as an entry-level dietitian. Through an individualized program, the students also to further develop their skills in their areas of interest and build on their strengths.
