Teddy Bear Clinic Prepares Children for Hospital Visit
(FREDERICTON) March 21, 2012 - The Dr. Everett Chalmers Regional
Hospital will be hosting a Teddy Bear Clinic on Saturday, March 24,
2012 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. in the Dr. Everett Chalmers Regional
Hospital's Conference Room 1A and 1B on Level 1.
Children three to 12 years of age are encouraged to bring their favourite bear or stuffed animal to the hospital. Children will be able to participate in a variety of fun, hands-on activities to promote familiarization of the hospital setting. Activities include exploring hospital equipment, talking with health-care providers and having their teddy bear bandaged or splinted.
The goal of the Teddy Bear Clinic is to help decrease a child's anxiety if they have to visit the hospital as they will be more familiar with health care staff and the hospital environment.
