Official Opening Ceremony held for HOPE House
(MIRAMICHI) March 7, 2012 - An official opening ceremony was
held today for the Health,Opportunity, Prevention and Empowerment
(HOPE) House, a unique community-based facility, which offers
programs and services for Mental Health and Addictions clients in
the Miramichi area.
Health Minister Madeleine Dubé joined senior officials from Horizon Health Network to tour HOPE House and meet physicians, staff and clients involved in the service. HOPE House is an extension of Miramichi Mental Health and Addictions Services and is situated in a renovated house that offers a comfortable and home-like setting for clients.
"HOPE House provides community-based services that put those living with mental illness and addictions at the centre of treatment and care which is the focus of theAction Plan for Mental Health in New Brunswick 2011-2018," said Dubé. "These are the types of services we need in our province and our government is pleased to support HOPE House as it continues to provide these services to the residents of the Miramichi area."
Since HOPE House opened in June 2011 at55 Pleasant Street, Miramichi, it has provided services through more than 1,000 client visits. Clients are referred by Miramichi Mental Health and Addiction Services. On a daily basis, HOPE House offers group therapy, life skills programs, self-esteem workshops, leisure activities, as well as relapse addiction programs. It also acts as a link for clients as they transition from the hospital's inpatient psychiatry unit to the community. Services are provided by a psychologist, social worker, and human service counsellors.

"This unique approach to treatment illustrates Horizon Health Network's commitment to provide the best possible care and optimize client access to necessary Mental Health and Addictions services in the community."
The provincial government invested $65,000 to complete renovations and purchase necessary equipment such as furniture and supplies.
