“Why Wait?” this Labour Day Weekend

(Moncton) August 31, 2017 - Horizon Health Network's The Moncton Hospital is reminding patients that long weekends can often lead to increased wait times in the Emergency Department, which can be avoided by seeking another health-care option.

When experiencing a non-urgent condition, patients can make an appointment at an after-hours/walk-in clinic, consult with a pharmacist, or call Tele-Care 811 and speak with a registered nurse.

Most pharmacies are open 365 days a year and pharmacists can help you with the following:

  • Replace, extend or renew your prescriptions

  • Prescriptions for non-urgent medical conditions such as migraines, flu symptoms, minor cuts, uncomplicated urinary tract infections, minor muscle and joint pains, or cold sores

  • Advice on minor illnesses or health issues

There are several after-hours/walk-in clinics located in Moncton, Riverview, and Dieppe. Many of these clinics are open days, evenings, weekends, and some are open on holidays as well - including this Labour Day.

After-hours/walk-in clinics can address conditions such as:

  • Sore throat

  • Earache

  • Possible bladder infection

  • Rash (such as scabies, etc.)

  • Toothache

  • Testing for sexually transmitted infection

  • Lower back pain from lifting or twisting

  • Flu symptoms such as vomiting, diarrhea, chills, and fever

Patients can find more information about the various health-care options available in the Moncton area and how to access them by visiting www.SoWhyWait.ca.

Horizon wishes everyone a safe and healthy Labour Day!
