Dr. Sohrab Lutchmedial
Dr. Sohrab Lutchmedial has been Medical Director of the NB Heart Centre Research Initiative since 2004. He is a native of Montreal and a graduate of McGill University medical school, obtaining his MDCM in 1993. He joined the staff of the
New Brunswick Heart Centre in 2000 following his Interventional Cardiology training at Université de Montréal. Along with being a faculty member of Memorial Univeristy and Dalhousie University School of Medicine, he is an active Interventional Cardiologist who has taken a lead role in coordinating clinical trials research at the NBHC, the production of the New Brunswick Heart Centre HeartBeat newsletter and the creation of the NBHC clinical teaching videos. More recently he has co-founded the CardioVascular Research - New Brunswick (CVR-NB) clinical outcomes program while obtaining New Brunswick Health Research Foundation and Heart and Stroke grants towards the evaluation of inequity of health care services in New Brunswick.
Dr. Robert Teskey
Robert Teskey joined the NBHC in 2002. He obtained his medical degree from The University of Ottawa in 1984. He completed training in Internal Medicine and Cardiology at The University of Ottawa. He was certified as a Fellow of the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada in Internal Medicine (1988) and in Cardiology (1989). He also completed a fellowship in Interventional Cardiology at The Ottawa Heart Institute. Prior to joining the NBHC, Dr. Teskey was a staff cardiologist and assistant professor at Dalhousie University. His clinical interests include critical care and he has expertise in intravascular Ultrasound (IVUS). He speaks French and English.
Elizabeth has been with the New Brunswick Heart Centre Research Initiative since its inception in December 2004. She graduated from the Saint John School of Nursing in 1988 and started her career working at St Joseph's Hospital. In 1994, she transferred to the Saint John Regional Hospital with the amalgamation of the region to the Surgical ICU.
In the New Brunswick Heart Centre Research Initiative, Elizabeth's role started as a full time Research Coordinator, providing care to study participants throughout the course of each clinical trial. Recently, her role expanded to include some administrative and financial duties. She currently lives in Saint John with her husband Chris and son Seth.
Corinne Braam joined the New Brunswick Heart Centre Research Initiative in the spring of 2011. She began her career in the medical and surgical intensive care units 28 years ago as a registered nurse and was excited to care for some of the province's first cardiac surgery patients. In 2000, Corinne left ICU nursing to pursue a career in primary health care. She earned a diploma in Occupational Health and practiced in the field for 10 years. Corinne is an active member of the Canadian Council of Cardiovascular Nurses-New Brunswick Chapter
Amy has been working with the New Brunswick Heart Centre Research Initiative since September 2010 as a Research Assistant. She is working towards a Masters in Applied Health Services Research at the University of New Brunswick. She has a prior background in research at Horizon with Dr. Verlé Harrop (Campobello Island Health and Well Being Needs Assessment), and more recently with the New Brunswick Department of Health. Amy has branched into the areas of research study design, data analysis, and grant writing. She has also participated in the planning, development and implementation of local research initiatives.
