Dr. Vernon Paddock joined the NBHC in 1992. He obtained his medical degree from Memorial University of Newfoundland in 1984. He completed training in Internal Medicine at Memorial University of Newfoundland and Cardiology at Dalhousie University. He was certified as a Fellow of the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada in Internal Medicine (1989) and in Cardiology (1990). He completed subspecialty training in Interventional Cardiology at The Ottawa Heart Institute. Dr. Paddock has been the Medical Director of the NBHC since 2005. His interests include triage assessment, outcomes research, mitral valve disease and TAVI (Transcatheter Aortic Valve Implantation)
Janine is a Registered Nurse and her educational background includes a bachelor degree in Nursing Sciences from Université de Moncton followed by a Master of Health Studies-Nursing stream. She also holds a certificate in Modern Management from the Canadian Healthcare Association. Janine began her Nursing career at the Saint John Regional Hospital and has been with the New Brunswick Heart Centre (NBHC) program since the day the doors first opened in 1991. She has worked in various clinical capacities within the heart centre program including nurse associate for Interventional Cardiology. This last role provided a foundation which enabled her to develop, implement and manage the NBHC Access Management department. She took on the role of Administrative Director in October 2009.
