Horizon Health Network is seeking a physiatrist to work with the Adult Team at the Stan Cassidy Centre for Rehabilitation (SCCR), the tertiary level neurological rehabilitation centre for the province of New Brunswick.  This is a full-time salaried position and includes inpatient and outpatient duties with educational and research opportunities.  Care would be shared with five other full-time physiatrists.  The patient population includes spinal cord injury, traumatic brain injury, ALS, multiple sclerosis, complicated stroke, cerebral palsy, and other neuromuscular disorders.

The Stan Cassidy Centre for Rehabilitation is a 20 bed and 5 transitional living suite facility which sees tertiary neurological injuries from all across New Brunswick.  It is situated next to the Dr. Everett Chalmers Regional Hospital, a 314 bed regional hospital with a 9-bed ICU.  The SCCR is affiliated with Dalhousie University Faculty of Medicine.  It is a training site for Dalhousie Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation residents and medical students.  SCCR is also affiliated with the University of New Brunswick in terms of research and their myoelectric program.

Remuneration will be a daily salaried rate and/or fee for services billings submitted directly to New Brunswick Medicare or a combination thereof, depending on specialty, qualifications and licensure by the College of Physicians and Surgeons of New Brunswick.

Essential Qualifications

  • Must hold a valid unrestricted license (or eligible for such licensure) to practice medicine in the Province of New Brunswick
  • Must be a member in good standing with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of New Brunswick.
  • Must have current malpractice insurance from the Canadian Medical Protective Association (CMPA) appropriate to the category of practice.
  • Must be certified in BCLS.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal and team-building skills.
  • Good attendance and work record.
  • Physically able to perform assign duties.
